'Gator News -- How he's doing

The latest on Drew " 'Gator " Vallentine

13 Oct 2009:  I received the following from Holly:

There is not much to report at this time about Gator.  We see his surgeon in the morning to check on the incision and see how he has been doing at home.  Oct 23 we see the onconoligist and make plans for treatment, maybe start treatment.

To those waiting for news on Gator:

He underwent surgery on Monday, and made it through the surgery fine.  Don and I were not able to stay long past surgery.
We talked to Holly on late Tuesday the 29th.  Gator is extremely weak from the operation and weight loss.  He is down to 133 lbs.  The doctors are concerned about the weight loss.  He will hopefully be back on real people food today October 1.  It is expected that he will be able to go home in about a week and finish regaining strength there.  In about 3 weeks, when he has regained strength and weight, the oncologist will start chemo and/or radiation treatments.  Because of the exhaustion for both, Holly is requesting no visitation or phone calls until after the 4th.
All of the cards received are greatly appreciated by both Holly and Gator.  He had as long of a string of them as the hospital would allow hanging on his wall where he can see them.  Both of his daughters are currently with him, and we will pass on information as we know it.
Gator, Holly, Woody and I look forward to seeing everyone at rendezvous.
Jan
